Ever spotted tiny numbers stamped inside your jewelry? Let's talk about them!
️Those numbers are a "Purity Stamps". These tell you the metal’s purity, aka what your jewelry is made of. Pure gold is soft and malleable, so it is alloyed with other minerals such as copper, silver, and nickel to strengthen it for everyday wear.
Here are some of the most common stamps:
10k or 417 = 10k Gold or 41.7% Gold
14k or 585 = 14k Gold or 58.5% Gold
18k or 750 = 18k Gold or 75.0% Gold
900, 950, or PLAT = Platinum
925 = Sterling Silver or 92.5% Sterling Silver
K or KT = Karat
